The Pope's seat rock

La seggiola del Papa è un caratteristico scoglio che si trova ad Ancona ed è raggiungibile dalla scalinata del Passetto. Per arrivarci si costeggiano le famose grotte con le porte colorate dove, nei mesi della stagione calda, i cosiddetti "Grottaroli" usano passare le lunghe giornate estive.

Questo portfolio rappresenta i miei primi scatti a lunga esposizione con l'utilizzo dei filtri ND e GND.

E'  stata  una  bella  esperienza, coronata  anche  dalla  stampa  di un  fotoquadro  della  foto  verticale sopra riportata  nel  formato 50 x 75 cm su superficie di  Alluminio  Di-Bond della
Saal-Digital  (www.saal-digital.it). I colori pastello dell'immagine sono ben valorizzati dalla superficie metallica e l'ottima qualità di stampa si apprezza anche dalla nitidezza dei particolari. Facile caricare la foto sul sito, selezionare il tipo di supporto per la stampa e procedere all'ordine. Velocissima la spedizione, ordinato giovedì mattina, fotoquadro consegnato a casa lunedì. Imballo robusto, semplice, ecologico e riciclabile. Ottima esperienza. Tornerò ad ordinare, provando anche gli altri tipi di supporto.

The Pope's chair is a characteristic rock which is located in Ancona and can be reached from the steps of the Passetto. To get there we go round the famous caves with colored doors where, in the months of the hot season, the so-called "Grottaroli" use to pass the long summer days.

This portfolio is made with my first long exposure shots with the use of ND and GND filters.

NYC skyscrapers

New York, la più grande città degli Stati Uniti, è la patria di 5.818 grattacieli, 92 dei quali sono più alti di 183 metri (600 piedi). L'edificio più alto della città è lo One World Trade Center, terminato nel 2014, raggiunge l'altezza di 541 metri. Il grattacielo più caratteristico è il Flatiron Building, con i suoi 86,9 metri di altezza è stato uno tra i più alti edifici di New York sin dal suo completamento nel 1902.  I newyorkesi furono subito attratti dall'edificio tanto da scommettere quanto a lungo sarebbe riuscito a resistere alle forti raffiche di vento che soffiano dove sorge. Il nome Flatiron fu coniato proprio dai cittadini della Grande Mela a causa della forma triangolare del palazzo che ricorda molto quella di un ferro da stiro (in inglese Flatiron). La punta dell'edificio è larga solamente 2 metri e si estende per 86,9 metri in altezza, divisi su ventidue piani.

New York, the largest city in the United States, is home to 5,818 high-rise buildings, 92 of which are taller than 183 meters (600 feet). The tallest building in town is the One World Trade Center, completed in 2014, reaches a height of 541 meters. The most distinctive skyscraper is the Flatiron Building, with its 86.9 meters in height was one of the highest buildings in New York since its completion in 1902. New Yorkers were immediately attracted to the building much to bet how long it would be able to withstand the strong winds that blow where it rises. The Flatiron name was coined by the citizens of the Big Apple because of the triangular shape of the building that resembles that of an iron (in English Flatiron). The tip of the building is only 2 meters wide and extends to 86.9 meters in height, divided out of twenty-two floors.

Castrovalva

Castrovalva è un gruppetto di case aggrappate alla montagna su una stretta e precipite cresta rocciosa e viene da chiedersi chi mai potesse vivere lassù.
Ebbene, quel “gruppetto di case” è Castrovalva, frazione del più grande borgo di Anversa degli Abruzzi da cui dista circa cinque chilometri.
Il borgo di Castrovalva si erge a 820 metri sul livello del mare sulle rossastre rupi della cresta del Colle San Michele, a precipizio sulle sottostanti Gole del Sagittario. Il piccolo borgo conta circa 50 abitanti residenti, chiamati castresi.
Per raggiungere il paesino è necessario percorrere la strada verso Scanno e poi proseguire per la stretta stradina che, tornante dopo tornante, si arrampica sul fianco della montagna per poi penetrare il crinale con una stretta galleria che conduce sull’altro lato della cresta ed entra in paese.

Castrovalva is a cluster of houses clinging to the mountain on a narrow and precipitous rocky ridge and one wonders who could possibly live up there.
Well, that "group of houses" is Castrovalva, part of the larger village of Anversa degli Abruzzi, which is about five kilometers.
The village of Castrovalva rises to 820 meters above sea level on the reddish cliffs of the Colle San Michele ridge precipitous on underlying Gorges of Sagittarius. The small village has about 50 permanent residents, called castresi.
To reach the town you need to walk the path towards Scanno and then continue on the narrow road, bend after bend, he climbs the mountain side and then penetrate the ridge with a narrow tunnel that leads on the other side of the ridge and enters country.

Lago di San Domenico

Il lago di San Domenico è sito nel comune di Villalago, in provincia dell'Aquila. Nei suoi pressi si trova l'eremo di San Domenico.
Il lago si trova in mezzo alla strette gole del Sagittario ed è di una bellezza stupenda con le sue acque cristalline. Le montagne circondano il tutto dando la sensazione di trovarsi in un luogo magico e selvaggio.

Saint Domenico lake is located in the town of Villalago, L'Aquila. Nearby there is the hermitage of San Domenico.
The lake is located in the middle of the narrow Sagittario gorges and is a stunning beauty with its crystal clear waters. The mountains surrounding the whole giving the feeling of being in a magical and wild place.
