Trapani: Processione dei Misteri

A Trapani nella Settimana Santa si tiene la Processione dei Misteri.  20 gruppi sacri realizzati con legno tela e colla sfilano, da oltre tre secoli, per la durata di 24 ore, in cui i portatori detti "massari", seguendo la cadenza delle bande musicali, imprimono alla cosiddetta "vara" il movimento della "annacata" (dondolio) che umanizza i personaggi rappresentati.

During the Holy Week, Procession of the Mysteries helds in Trapani. 20 groups of statues, realized in wood, glue and canvas, parade for over three centuries, for a period of 24 hours. They are carried over the shoulders by "massari" (bearers) who swing the "vare" (statues) at the rhythm of melting and suggestive funeral marches performed by bands witch accompany them.

Le foto sono state scattate volutamente in modo imperfetto ed elaborate in bianco e nero per mettere in risalto l'atmosfera di profondo dolore trasmesso dalla passione di Cristo e la grande devozione dei fedeli, in particolare dei portatori che per 24 ore si sottopongono ad una fatica estrema.

The photos were taken deliberately imperfectly and processed in black and white to highlight the atmosphere of deep sorrow sent from the Passion of Christ and the great devotion of the faithful, especially the bearers that for 24 hours undergoing an extreme fatigue.
