Il 6 aprile 2009, il terremoto che colpì l'Aquilano devastò Onna. La maggior parte degli edifici del paese crollarono e quelli rimasti in piedi subirono comunque danni gravissimi. A Onna vi fu anche il maggior numero di vittime umane del terremoto, 41 circa il 15% della popolazione. Perirono anche animali a causa del crollo di più stalle del paese.
The April 6, 2009, the earthquake that struck the L'aquila devastated Onna. Most of the buildings in the town collapsed and those still standing were nevertheless damaged. In Onna was also the largest number of human victims of the earthquake, 41 about 15% of the population. Animals also perished due to the collapse of the country's stables.
